Colt began in 1992 with funding from Fidelity investments. Within a year the company completed 15 km of the London network, and been granted a PTO licence enabling the company to offer voice and transmission services.
Various interconnect agreements were signed ever since and by 1995 Colt completed the initial phase of London's network in West End. Colt's European expansion continued as the company raised more capital, won many awards and began to work in Spain, Switzerland, and deepened it's presence in France and in Germany.
As of today, Colt is Europe's leading information delivery platform, with over 35000 European business and government customers. The company has the fastest end-to-end European Ethernet network, seamlessly connecting over 100 cities and operates 19 state-of-the-art Data Centres.

Magirus and Colt
The strategic Magirus partnership with Colt establishes an important role for distribution and the channel in the future cloud computing.
In collaboration with Colt, Magirus provides Infrastructure as a Service with virtual data centre computing and storage capability. This represents a first building block in Magirus cloud services strategy for our channel.
The IaaS cloud services enable business partners to become trusted cloud service providers for their customers. The virtualized server and storage technology within Colt's Data Centre is built upon Vblock technology of VCE with integrated VMware, Cisco and EMC based hardware and software.
Magirus is a major distributor for all these vendors, therefore the cloud services platform complements Magirus's existing expertise and skill sets and those of many of Magirus business partners.
